Rene Anderson

René has worked in the Department of Child & Family Studies, Division of State & Local Support at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute as the Statewide Parent Advocate Coordinator/ Training Specialist for six years.

Rene has been a member of the Florida State Mental Health Planning Council since 2000, is the recent Past Chair of the Council, and is currently the Chair of the block grant committee for the council, and the Vice Chair.

Rene was nominated to the National Association of State Mental Health Planning and Advisory Councils Board in 2005 and has served two years as the Children's advocate.

She is the Former founding President of the local Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health Chapter in Tampa, Florida (1998-2001).

Rene began advocating for her daughter who was diagnosed with a mental illness at the age of four. Her daughter is now twenty one years old. Rene` continues to advocate on behalf of children and families at the local, state and national levels.
