go back Requesting Technical Assistance

Applying for technical assistance for your Council is a fairly straightforward process. To keep the process simple, requests are accepted by phone or in writing via fax or e-mail. Requests should come from the Council’s current chairperson or that person’s designee. The first step in the process is to complete a PAC assessment form. Requests should answer the questions below. Keep in mind that NAMHPAC staff is available to work with you or your group to help you with this application process, document and clarify your needs and think through the type of technical assistance to be provided.

Applications should address the following questions:
  • Problem definition: Briefly describe the challenges facing your Council. Play particular attention to basic organizational, operational, and communication practices (hosting of meetings, participation of consumers/parents/family members).

  • How do you see technical assistance or training helping to address these?

  • How could the technical assistance help improve the capacity of the council to meet the core federal mandates for planning councils?

  • What do you hope will be different with your Council, after this technical assistance? In other words, what outcomes are you hoping for?

Selection for Technical Assistance will be based upon the following criteria:

  • Ability of NAMHPAC technical assistance providers to provide requested technical assistance.

  • Inclusion of key stakeholders in request for technical assistance and participation in the technical assistance process.

  • Development of specific and attainable outcomes that will result from requested technical assistance.

All requests for technical assistance should be sent to:
